If you are searching for a place to relax a few days in Portugal in Winter I will recommend going to Montargil. I was there on a long weekend and it was amazing to recharge energy!
From Lisbon to Montargil we drove 1h30 and the views were absolutely beautiful.
We stayed at Monte Novo Montargil a unique rural experience in an exclusive and contemporary ambience. We stayed in a Villa with 3 bedrooms and a swimming pool (it was really sad that I couldn’t swim because of the cold weather). Plus, you get a bit of a walk through the nature on your way to breakfast and dinner.
Things to do in the area
- Passadiço do Gameiro - Next to the river beach of Gameiro and the Fluviário de Mora is the walkway of the Ecological Park of Gameiro completely made of wood and has a length of 1.5 km. During the walkway you have information about the trees, flowers and shrubs that are around and also benches to rest, as well as dustbins to preserve the environment from pollution.
- Fluviário Mora - it is a public aquarium dedicated to the ecosystems of fresh water , favoring the knowledge and the importance of biodiversity and its relationship to humanity. It is located in the Ecological Park of Gameiro.
- Monte da Raposinha - It is a family business focused in the production of exceptional high quality wine from Alentejo. From red to sparkling wine, without forgetting white wine, Monte da Raposinha intends on providing its consumers singular and pleasurable moments.
Restaurants
- Restaurante Afonso in Mora- It was one of my favorite expeiences ever! We ate Migas Gatas de Bacalhau, its one of their signature dishes. It is a local bread-based concoction which can seemingly be used to accompany most things.
- Quadrifonia in Ponte de Sor - It was a great place to eat. The service was efficient, friendly and helpful. The prices are also very competitive.
